At plugH, we believe that the world needs women led development. In this grand vision, we reimagine women as the architects of the world’s progress and development, rather than being passive recipients of the fruits of development. For them to be ready to take on leadership roles in all spheres of their lives, they need a wide perspective on diverse aspects of life and have a broader world view to lead this transition in the most holistic manner. The Bodhi Stree community and forum has been created exclusively for women to achieve this objective.

The Bodhi Stree is a term inspired by the concept of the Bodhi Tree (also known as the Tree of Awakening) which was a large and ancient sacred fig tree (Ficus religiosa) located in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India. Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher who became known as the Buddha, is said to have attained enlightenment or Bodhi under it. Stree is the Sanskrit word for woman.
